Public has spoken for two-year terms
SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 2008

The cousins, Patrick Wallace and William Burke, the newcomers, are trying to revive the notion of two-year versus four-year terms for Lewis County legislators.

Apparently they believe their constituents are asleep at the wheel. What part of "no" do they not understand? The voters have spoken. A two-year term is long enough.

During a four-year term, politicians subscribe to personal agendas rather than those of their constituents. As new members of the board, the wishes of their constituents should be foremost, not personal agendas.

Mr. Wallace and Mr. Burke, the general consensus of the voting public is two years, not four.

No employer would give you two years to learn a job and all of you gentlemen are, excuse me, and lady, employed by the people of this county.
