OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education unanimously accepted the resignation of Kresten F. Ericksen at a special meeting Wednesday night.

Mr. Ericksen, the director of the Edgar A. Newell II Golden Dome and a former city councilor, is stepping down June 30 from his $42,455-a-year job. The school board voted 7-0 on his resignation letter, with no board comment offered.

He pleaded guilty May 12 in St. Lawrence County Court to a single misdemeanor count of third-degree forgery in satisfaction of all charges stemming from a long-running investigation into the handling of proceeds from a series of fundraising events at the Golden Dome. He will be sentenced June 30.

As part of the plea agreement, Mr. Ericksen agreed to reimburse the school district $15,335 and resign from his position. The reimbursement covers the $12,235 the district spent for an audit of student council finances. The reimbursement agreement also includes $3,100 which Mr. Ericksen said represents the proceeds of the second of two Harlem Wizards events at the dome that were never deposited in the bank and which are unaccounted for, which is being attributed to sloppy bookkeeping.
