CANTON — Property owners have until May 30 to request inclusion in St. Lawrence County agriculture districts.

Districts protect landowners from taxing, assessment and zoning regulations that hinder farming.

The county annually accepts requests to join the districts. Withdrawals are considered every eight years. Landowners in District 1, which covers the western and southern portions of the county, can apply until May 30 for removal. District 2 properties cannot be removed until 2014.

Landowners seeking inclusion must complete a form available from the county Planning Office, 379-2292.
