The second day of a statewide enhanced seat belt detail resulted late Tuesday morning in the arrest of a motorist on a charge of driving while intoxicated in Theresa, according to state police.
Kevin C. Prine, 36, County Route 46, Theresa, was charged at 10:55 a.m. with aggravated DWI on Route 26, police said. He was stopped at a seat-belt detail and was found not to be wearing a restraint, police said.
He registered a breath test reading of 0.18 percent blood alcohol content, police said, matching the state's standard for aggravated DWI.
He also was cited with consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.
Checkpoints on Monday brought about 54 tickets for seat-belt infractions in Jefferson County and 36 in Lewis County, troopers said. The majority of the summonses in Jefferson County were issued at Route 11 and Plaza Drive in the town of Pamelia, while the Lewis County detail was on Number Four Road in the town of Lowville.
DWI charges unrelated to seat-belt enforcement:
■ Bradley T. Gollinger, 21, of 4191 County Route 27, Hermon, was charged Sunday with aggravated DWI after a one-car accident in Russell. State police said he was driving south on County Route 24 near Burnell Road when he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned. He was ejected from the vehicle.
His blood alcohol content was 0.22 percent, police said. He also was charged with not wearing a seat belt and failure to keep right.
He was taken by a private vehicle to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, complaining of a sore right shoulder and having a cut on his forehead, police said.
■ Jeffrey J. Cote, 39, of 109 School St., Madrid, was charged Tuesday with aggravated DWI after being stopped on County Route 59 in the town of Potsdam, state police said. Mr. Cote also was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. His blood alcohol content wasn't available. He was jailed on $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond at St. Lawrence County jail, Canton.
Charged with driving while under the influence of drugs:
■ Annis A. Bacher, 36, of 515 Plum Ave., Watertown, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 6 p.m. Monday with driving under the influence of prescription medications. Deputies said she was driving on Salmon Run Mall Loop when she got her car hung up on curbing. She also was cited with moving from a lane unsafely.
