CANTON — The St. Lawrence University men's hockey team will play three NCAA tournament teams in October as the Saints revealed their 2008-09 schedule Monday.
St. Lawrence opens the season on Oct. 10 and 11 at Michigan, which advanced to the NCAA Division I Frozen Four this past April. The Saints follow that series with road games at Rochester Institute of Technology and Niagara on Oct. 17 and 18, respectively. The Purple Eagles were also in the NCAA tournament field.
SLU plays its first home game of the season against New Hampshire — a third NCAA tournament team — at 3 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Appleton Arena.
The Saints will also have four games against Clarkson, including two nonconference matchups. St. Lawrence will travel to Clarkson on Jan. 9, and the Golden Knights will head to SLU on Jan. 10 in the nonconference games. The ECAC Hockey matchups will take place at St. Lawrence on Feb. 6 and at Clarkson the following night.

GOUVERNEUR'S SCOTT IN NAIAS
Former Gouverneur athlete Steve Scott will compete in the 400-meter hurdles in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which start Thursday, at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill.
Scott, who competes for Houghton College, took second place in the American Mideast Conference meet in the hurdles, finishing in 54.98 seconds.

FLORIDA ST. RECEIVER PLEADS GUILTY
Florida State receiver Preston Parker will have to sit out the first two games of the 2008 season after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges.
The 21-year-old Parker, the Seminoles' most versatile player last season, was arrested in April on a felony charge for allegedly having a loaded .45-caliber pistol in the dashboard of his car. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
