CANTON — A Gouverneur man who was charged after a double-fatal accident with driving under the influence of prescription drugs has violated the terms of his probation.

Kramer R. Weaver, 18, was charged Thursday by state police who responded to a report of a disturbance in the Gouverneur Town Hall parking lot. Police said they found Mr. Weaver there under the influence of drugs. He was arraigned in Town Court and was released on $250 bail pending further court action.

He was ordered Monday in St. Lawrence County Court to be placed on electronic home monitoring, court officials said. He can leave home only for school.

Mr. Weaver was charged by state police in March with first-degree vehicular manslaughter, failure to keep right and driving while ability impaired by drugs following investigation of a fatal collision that took place Oct. 1 on Route 11 near Gouverneur Bowl.

Police said he was under the influence of butalbital, a pain reliever, and cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxant, when his Jeep veered across the center line of the highway and hit a car head on. Its driver, James D. Reeve, 30, Gouverneur, and his 4-year-old son, James R., died.
