Dore lifts Indian River into first place
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Warriors star helps team edge Spartans in pivotal meet

ADAMS CENTER — Geneen Dore's victory in the triple jump allowed Indian River to edge host South Jefferson, 71-70, and defeat Lowville, 98-42, in a key Frontier League girls track and field tri-meet Tuesday.

Dore also won the 100- and 200-meter dashes for the Warriors (9-0), who moved into sole possession of first place in the "A" Division. Tabitha Andrews won the 400 and competed on the winning 1,600 relay for Indian River.

Leanna Poirier claimed the shot put and discus as the Spartans (7-1) dropped Lowville (3-3), 110-31.

BEAVERS SWEEP

Angeline Waryasz collected two wins to guide Beaver River to victory over Watertown, 91-50, and Sandy Creek, 113-27, in a league tri-meet in Watertown.

Waryasz captured the discus and 100 hurdles events for the Beavers (5-3).

Katelynn Richardson paced the Cyclones (2-6) by scoring first in three events. She took the 100, 200 and long jump for Watertown, which defeated Sandy Creek (0-8), 103-31.

BOYS LACROSSE

CARTHAGE 19, SOUTH JEFFERSON 3

Robert Grimm accounted for three goals and five assists, and the Comets clinched the Frontier League regular-season championship with a victory at Carthage.

Thomas Grimm pitched in with two goals and five assists, Derrick Kehoe scored four goals, and Cory Taylor added three goals for the Comets (14-1, 10-0).

Jamie Grimm, Nate Koster and Pat Gibbons led the defense, according to Carthage coach Kirk Ventiquattro.

Jacob Smith, Daron Eastman and Ethan Duffy scored for the Spartans (6-8, 2-7).

WATERTOWN 15, LOWVILLE 3

Travis McGraw turned in five goals and three assists to lead the Cyclones to a victory at Lowville.

The Red Raiders (6-8, 3-5) managed just one goal apiece in the first, second and third quarters.

Watertown coach Tim Burr said the Cyclones' defense controlled the tempo of the game, by effectively clearing when Lowville mounted an attack. Wilson Mukrdechian made 11 saves for Watertown (12-3, 7-3).

Mark Nortz, Kyle Bush and Matt Graveley each scored for Lowville (6-8, 3-5).

Caleb Rowsam had three goals, and Chad Gebo provided two goals and four assists for the Cyclones.

IMMACULATE HEART 15,

GENERAL BROWN 5

Colin Caldwell recorded four goals and two assists as the host Cavaliers defeated the Lions in a Frontier League matchup.

Tyler Prevost generated a goal and five assists, and Rob Kunz had three goals and two assists for Immaculate Heart (7-6, 5-3).

Jared Flath and Rob Thomas scored two times apiece for General Brown (6-8, 4-6).

SALMON RIVER 20, CANTON 11

Ty Thompson scored six goals and one assist to lead the Shamrocks past the Golden Bears in a Northern Athletic Conference game in Fort Covington.

Miles Thompson and Seth Oakes each supplied four goals for Salmon River (10-0).

Sam Bradman paced Canton (9-4, 8-3) with six goals and an assist.

GIRLS LACROSSE

INDIAN RIVER 16, HEUVELTON 10 (OT)

Indian River scored four goals in overtime to earn a nonleague win in Heuvelton.

Teddi Filiatrault scored four times, and Kayleigh Pearson added three goals and one assist to lead Indian River (2-11).

Emily Bush paced Heuvelton (5-8) with seven goals and two assists. Alexa Stowe supplied two goals.
