Rodman man gets 8 months jail time
ASSAULT: 23-year-old ordered to pay $6,377 for injuring girlfriend

A Rodman man was sentenced Monday in Jefferson County Court to eight months in jail at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building for causing injuries to his girlfriend.

Hunter A. Bechaz,23, of 21701 Myers Drive, was given credit for an unspecified amount of time already served. He also was ordered to pay $6,377 in restitution in the form of a civil judgment.

He pleaded guilty Feb. 20 to third-degree assault after being accused of throwing his girlfriend, Heidi M. Simpson, to the floor and then twice throwing a dresser on her Dec. 7 during a domestic incident at a residence they shared at 5504 Bishop Road in the town of Lorraine. She suffered a broken finger and head bruises, according to court documents.

Also Monday:

Travis L. Alberry,22, of 618 Huntington St., Apt. 2, Watertown, was sentenced to time served and five years' probation for a March 24 guilty plea to third-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance as a result of separate incidents.

He was accused of participating in a Sept. 28 intrusion at the Plaza Drive residence of Earl N. Pierce in which copper pipes, aluminum kettles and knives were reportedly stolen. He was also accused Jan. 20 of having 25 Darvocet pills that he said he intended to give to his uncle.

Jonathan T. McNair,21, of 523 Arsenal St., Watertown, was sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to pay $1,086 in restitution for a Feb. 1 guilty plea to fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was accused Aug. 29 of kicking out a window of a city police cruiser. He had been placed in the vehicle's rear seat while police investigated a fight on Franklin Street.

John R. Blakeslee,25, of 25152 William St., Calcium, pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless endangerment. Sentencing was set for July 12. He was accused of grabbing the steering wheel of a vehicle operated by his wife, Heather L., on Route 11 in the town of LeRay. The action caused the vehicle to swerve at about 55 mph and sideswipe a vehicle driven by William K. Whitney Jr., Fine.

Richard C. Altmire II,21, of 5 Rulison St., Carthage, pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated as a misdemeanor. Sentencing was set for June 18. He was accused of DWI and driving without a license March 16 on County Route 47 in the town of Champion.
