HEUVELTON — Kacie Wentworth picked up 28 strikeouts in two games to lead the Canton softball team to the championship of the Heuvelton Tournament on Saturday.
Wentworth struck out 13 in a 4-0 shutout to lead Canton (13-1) past Heuvelton in the championship game. She had 15 strikeouts as Canton beat Sackets Harbor 7-2 in the opening round.
Wentworth also helped herself in the opening game with two RBIs. Heather Lottie hit a three-run homer and finished with two hits in the opening game for Canton.
Dana Gorman went 3-for-4 and Jessica Nappi was 2-for-2 for Sackets Harbor (9-7) against Canton.
Heather Johnson struck out nine for Heuvelton (7-5) in the championship game and added two hits.
Heuvelton reached the championship game with a 3-1 win over Massena (5-7). Casey Donnelly struck out 10 for the Bulldogs and also added a triple. Marci Silver had two hits for the Red Raiders.
Sackets Harbor beat Massena 7-2 in the consolation game.
Gorman went 3-for-4, Courtney Allen was 2-for-4, Jenna Weaver drove in two runs and Sarah Maxon had a RBI triple for Sackets Harbor (9-7). Weaver earned her first varsity win on the mound.
Massena's Erin Tyo had three hits, including a triple, and Silver also added three hits.
COMETS SWEEP IN CANASTOTA
Sandy Creek won a pair of games at the Canastota Tournament, defeating Whitney Point and Jamesville-DeWitt by identical 11-2 scores.
Karlie DeCarolis and Kaylee Fravel each contributed two hits in Sandy Creek's win over Whitney Point. Lyndsay Rowell collected two hits and two RBIs and earned the victory for the Comets (13-0) against Jamesville-DeWitt.
Mercedes LaVeck went 2-for-3 with a triple against the Red Rams, and Sabrina Howland produced a two-run single.
■ South Lewis dropped two games at the Canastota Tournament, losing to Carle Place, 4-2, and Marcellus, 13-1.
Lindsey Croneiser had two hits for the Falcons (7-7) against Carle Place, and Jenna Kraeger contributed an RBI double in the matchup with Marcellus.

Anne Hawn hit a three-run homer and Miranda Typhair struck out 13 to lead Edwards-Knox (9-1, 8-0) past the Golden Knights in the Lisbon Tournament.
Brianna Teele hit an RBI double for Lisbon (5-2).

Cambray Merrick had two hits, including a two-run home run, as Madrid-Waddington (5-5) beat the Green Rockets in the Lisbon Tournament. Shaylen Merrick added two hits for Madrid-Waddington.
Megan Kanaly hit a bases-loaded triple for Morristown (3-10).

Jenna Weaver homered to help lead the Wildcats (3-4) past Norwood-Norfolk in another game of the Lisbon Tournament.
Jenna Lazore and Jessica Harvey tripled for the Flyers (5-7, 3-5).
LARRIES SPLIT AT MUDVILLE
Shayleen Soller and Brittany Crump each drove in two runs with singles as St. Lawrence Central (12-1) picked up a 6-2 win over Northstar Christian in the first of two games at the Mudville Invitational in Herkimer.
Lansing earned an 8-7 win over the Larries in the other game. Elise Roye, Amanda Locke, Ashley Thayer and Nikia Arquiett each had two hits for St. Lawrence.

Kerry Guerin had the game-winning RBI in the opener as the Cavaliers took two from the Golden Knights in a nonleague doubleheader at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
Taylor Upton was 2-for-3 in the first game and Jill Gullo struck out eight in the second game for IHC (3-8).

Erin Mills finished with three hits as the visiting Rebels won the Frontier League crossover game with three runs in the top of the seventh at Beaver Falls.
Elyse Russell, Megan Phillips and Virginia Stanton also had two hits each for APW (7-6, 5-5).
Emily Zehr and Emily Compeau led the Beavers (6-8, 4-8) with two hits each.
