Motorcyclist injured;
SUV forces him off road
HARRISBURG — A Copenhagen man was treated at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, for head and back pain after the motorcycle he was driving crashed along County Route 14 here Friday.
Joshua A. O'Handley, 20, Doran Road, was attempting to pass two vehicles traveling south when the vehicle in front of him also attempted to pass the lead vehicle, forcing Mr. O'Handley to the shoulder of the road. He lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected from it, police said. He was wearing a helmet.
Mr. O'Handley was treated at the hospital and released. The vehicle that forced him from the road, a gray sport utility vehicle, did not stop.
Two drivers facing charge
of aggravated DWI
Two north country drivers were charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated in separate traffic stops.
■ Amy J. Simser, 29, of 23671 Alexandria St., Carthage, was stopped along the 500 block of Pearl Street, Watertown, at 3 a.m. Saturday. City police charged her with aggravated DWI, an equipment violation, failure to signal and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police said her blood alcohol content was 0.20 percent. The threshold for aggravated DWI, which carries harsher penalties than DWI, is 0.18 percent. The state threshold for DWI is 0.08 percent BAC.
■ Uyles K. Monahan, 33, of 18881 Jericho Road, Hounsfield, was stopped by Watertown police at 3:25 a.m. Saturday on the 600 block of Huntington Street for allegedly having a loud muffler. He is charged with aggravated DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and an equipment violation. His BAC was 0.23 percent, police said.
Man charged with assault
after altercation at bar
POTSDAM — Kyle T. Pumilio, 20, Frankfort, was charged with second-degree assault Friday night after an altercation at McDuff's Tavern.
Village police said he attempted to hit another patron while holding a beer bottle in his hand and then struck another person not involved in the fight.
Mr. Pumilio was arraigned in Potsdam Town Court and released under the supervision of probation.
