Ronald P. and Elizabeth M. Jillson, Cazenovia, Marlene Hawkins, Norfolk, and Douglas Hawkins, Potsdam, announce the engagement of their children, Heather L. Jillson and Derek R. Hawkins, both of 5127 N. Eagle Village Road, Manilus.

Miss Jillson graduated from Cazenovia High School and received a degree in elementary education in 2004 from SUNY Potsdam. She is a counselor at SUNY Morrisville.

Mr. Hawkins graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School, Norwood, in 1996 and received a bachelor's degree in 2001 and a master's degree in 2005 from SUNY Potsdam. He is employed at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse.

A Sept. 20 wedding is planned.
