DEXTER — A General Brown Central School student has been charged with second-degree aggravated harassment as a hate crime and endangering the welfare of a child after an incident at the high school.
Zachary S. Cushman, 16, of Military Road, Watertown, allegedly made a drawing with a racial slur and a depiction of a noose on and directed it at a 14-year-old black student while the two were sitting on two separate school buses parked next to each other at the school Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Cushman then made a threatening photo call to the other student, police said.
He was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,000 bail.
