Man allegedly had child porn, is jailed

CANTON — A Canton man was jailed Tuesday after being arrested on federal child pornography charges.

Brent Easton, 42, was arrested by FBI agents following execution of a search warrant at his home, according to information provided by the office of U.S. Attorney Glenn T. Suddaby, Syracuse. The search turned up still and video files of child pornography, a press release stated.

Mr. Easton's arrest was the result of an investigation that began in January after an FBI agent in Oklahoma City, Okla., downloaded images of child pornography he made available on a computer file sharing network.

Arraigned in U.S. District Court, Syracuse, he was ordered held pending resolution of the charges. They carry a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years upon conviction. The maximum is 20 years. The charges also carry potential fines of up to $250,000.
