CANTON — A Norwood woman will spend up to six months in jail after admitting Monday in St. Lawrence County Court that she stole more than $27,000.
June E. Wilkins,57, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree grand larceny. She admitted stealing $15,000 from a checking account belonging to Civil Service Employees Association Local 625 which represents food service workers at SUNY Potsdam. The thefts took place between June 2003 and May 2007. She also admitted stealing more than $12,000 from a checking account of former friend Patricia Woodward, Norwood, on June 15 and Aug. 3. In all, the thefts are alleged to have totaled at least $30,300.
Ms. Wilkins pleaded guilty in return for a promise that she will not face federal prosecution. She is to be sentenced on June 23 to five years probation and up to six months in jail. She also will be required to pay restitution.
In other proceedings, an Ogdensburg man who admitted cashing forged checks in Massena was sentenced to two to four years in prison as a repeat felony offender.
James S. Lago,25, was ordered to pay $10,996.14 restitution and $320 in court fees. He will be permitted to serve the sentence at the same time he serves a two to four year sentence for forgery and identity theft that was imposed in Jefferson County Court in April.
Paul A. Fregoe,24, Massena, was sentenced to a year in jail for having sex with a 14-year-old girl in early September. He pleaded guilty March 4 to second-degree rape. He was ordered to pay $1,370 in court fees.
Joseph L. Myers,43, Waddington, was sentenced to six months in jail for felony driving while intoxicated in Waddington on July 28. He pleaded guilty in March. He was sentenced to five years' probation and was ordered to pay $2,295 in fines and court fees.
Dorothy K. Daniel-Jacobs,38, Massena, was sentenced to five years' probation for marijuana possession. She was ordered to pay $320 in court fees.
Mrs. Jacobs and her husband,Stewart D. Jacobs,39, both pleaded guilty in February after being found with 15 pounds of marijuana in their car during a U.S. Border Patrol traffic stop on Route 37, Hammond, in March 2007. His sentencing was postponed until June 2 to determine if he must be sentenced as a repeat felony offender due to a conviction in Georgia.
Kim L. Davies,20, Potsdam, who admitted stealing a stereo system and porcelain dolls belonging to her mother, was sentenced to five years' probation for attempted burglary. She was ordered to pay $3,481.50 restitution and $320 in court fees.
Scott Hockenberry,36, Brasher Falls, was sentenced to five years' probation for attempted burglary. He pleaded guilty in March to entering a camper in the town of Brasher in April 2007. He was ordered to pay $2,200 restitution and $320 in court fees.
Frederick E. Spicer,38 Potsdam, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He admitted possessing cocaine with the intent to sell on March 12. He is to be sentenced June 16 to four years in the Willard Drug Treatment Program followed by two years on parole. He forfeited $402 that was seized at the time of his arrest.
Donna J. Manning,27, Gouverneur, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree burglary. She is to be sentenced June 16 to probation and up to six months in jail for taking part in a July 6 burglary at the home of Bruce House, Gouverneur.
Ryan J. Richer,20, Ogdensburg, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. He admitted possessing a $140 forged check belonging to his parents on May 2, 2007. He is to be placed on interim probation pending sentencing in a year.
William J. Whitney Jr.,16, Fine, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree sexual abuse. He admitted having sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl in Fine on Oct. 17. He is to be sentenced June 23.
Sherri L. Hill,44, Massena, pleaded guilty to felony driving while intoxicated. She admitted driving drunk on Route 37C, Massena, on Aug. 28. She is to be placed on interim probation for a year before sentencing.
Dillon Kerry,19, Ogdensburg, pleaded innocent to fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He is accused of possessing a stolen rifle in November.
Stewart E. Miller,46, Gouverneur, pleaded innocent to felony DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Edwards on Oct. 15.
Ronald F. Saucier,39, Waddington, pleaded innocent to felony DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on County Route 28, Waddington, on Oct. 26.
Timothy A. Shippee,20, Gouverneur, pleaded innocent to second-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. He is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl in February.
Nicholas J. Fiacco,20, Norwood, who appeared in court Tuesday, was sentenced to a year in jail after admitting he violated probation by leaving drug treatment and the county without permission and by being charged with disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to probation in January 2006 after pleading guilty to attempted burglary in satisfaction of charges stemming from a burglary at Fefee's Market, Norfolk, in June 2004.
