Ogdensburg Planning Board OKs withdrawal of site plan
WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2008

OGDENSBURG — A proposed 14-unit townhouse development along the St. Lawrence River has been officially scrapped.

The city Planning Board unanimously approved the withdrawal of the site-plan application for the project submitted by River Estate Venture LLC at its meeting Tuesday night.

The development on Franklin Street called for two four-unit and two three-unit buildings, with each townhouse about 2,000 square feet. The proposed two-story townhouses, which include two or three bedrooms, would provide a scenic view of the St. Lawrence River.

The apparent hang-up for the project was the city's insistence for a sidewalk along the waterfront, the developer's attorney said.

"I can't believe a sidewalk would be a major deterrent at this point," board Chairman Timothy J. Redmond said.

Board members said they hope another development can be placed on the property.
