WINTHROP — Wayne K. Arquitt, 63, Winthrop, died Sunday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

Among his survivors is his wife, Patricia "Patsy."

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church, Brasher Falls. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, town of Stockholm. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hammill Funeral Home.

Merle E. Putnam

RENSSELAER FALLS — Merle E. Putnam, 76, Congress Street, died Monday at his home, where he was under his family's care.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; a son and his wife, Wayne and Barbara, Auburn; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Dr. Pedro Alvarez, Ogdensburg, and Diane and Gene Reed, Hope Mills, N.C., and seven grandchildren.

HEUVELTON — William John Alton Simms, 72, Heuvelton Road, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse.

Among his survivors is his wife, Dorothy.

CARTHAGE — Bertha Benware, 73, Skaneateles, formerly of Carthage, died Sunday at home, where she was under the care of her family.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Birnbaum Funeral Service, 1909 E. Fayette St., Syracuse. Calling hours will be from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
