CANTON — A funeral Mass for Eleanor R. LaSala, 82, Sykes Road, will be said at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Timothy G. Canaan officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. LaSala died Friday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Mrs. LaSala worked at various places in Brooklyn while growing up. She was employed at A&P Grocery, Ebinger's Bakery and a doctor's laboratory, tended bar at her father's establishment and assisted in managing 8 L's Luncheonette.

After moving to Canton, she worked at Chaney Dining Hall at Canton Agricultural and Technical College.

Born Dec. 6, 1925, in Brooklyn, daughter of Armsby Lester and Sally Agnes Lyden Clapper, she graduated from high school in Brooklyn in 1943. The family moved to the Sykes Road farm on Dec. 6, 1972.

She married George LaSala Sr. on May 18, 1946, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Brooklyn.

He died Sept. 9, 2004.

Mrs. LaSala enjoyed taking care of horses, working in her vegetable gardens and canning her produce. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph and Teresa, Potsdam, and Lester and Lisa, and George Jr., all of Canton; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sally and Terry Smith, Eleanor P. LaSala and Dorothy C. LaSala, all of Canton; a brother and his wife, Donald and Arlene Clapper, Jupiter, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Bertha and William Schultz, Long Island, 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A sister, Claire Cole, and a grandson died before her.
