Gap between Democrats is closing

The latest New York Times/CBS News Poll suggests the margin between the Democratic candidates for president is narrowing since Sen. Hillary Clinton's triumph in the Pennsylvania primary and the controversy over Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor.

Fifty-one percent of Democratic primary voters said they expect Mr. Obama to win the nomination, down from 69 percent a month ago. Likewise, 48 percent of Democrats say Mr. Obama has the best chance of beating Sen. John McCain in the general election, down from 56 percent a month ago. And 56 percent of Democrats see their party as divide d.
