LYONS FALLS — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Teal, Laura Street, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February with a three-week trip to New Zealand and Australia followed by a surprise anniversary party March 7 at McManus Hotel for about 120 people.
Mr. Teal, son of the late John and Mary Hughes Teal, and Jean Poore, daughter of the late Lewis and Erma Webster Poore, were married March 15, 1958, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Port Leyden with the Rev. Aloysius R. Isele officiating.
Attendants were Shirley Teal VanNest and Gerald VanNest, Lyons Falls, sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom.
Mr. Teal graduated from Lyons Falls High School in 1952, served in the Army for two years and then went to work with his father at Teal's Express, where he is now part owner. He is a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Lyons Falls Fire Department and enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time at the family camp on Pillar Point.
Mrs. Teal graduated from Port Leyden High School in 1955 and worked at General Electric in Utica and Johnstown Knitting Mill in Port Leyden. She is a homemaker, a member of St. John's Church, St. John's Altar-Rosary Society and also enjoys traveling, reading and their camp.
They have two sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Laurie, Lyons Falls, and Daniel and Marcy, Lowville; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Hope and Alan Scouten, Port Leyden, and Donna and Stephen Skiff, Glenfield; and 11 grandchildren.
