Rensselaer hammers Clarkson in doubleheader

TROY — Camden Mamigonian and Ken Carroll each had multiple hits in both games of a Liberty League baseball doubleheader as No. 23 Rensselaer swept Clarkson 10-5 and 17-8 Sunday.

Mamigonian went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the opener and was 4-for-5 with two RBIs in game two. Carroll was 2-for-4 in the opener and went 2-for-6 with five RBIs in game two for RPI (11-1 overall, 4-0 Liberty League).

Clarkson (5-8, 0-4) was led by Cale Giroux, who went 4-for-4 in game one and Matt Holiday, who went 2-for-4. Giroux was 3-for-5 in the second game for the Golden Knights. Mike Bresett, Brett Peplowski, Holiday and Sean Griffin each had two hits for Clarkson in the second game.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

ELMIRA 16, CLARKSON 15

The Soaring Eagles (2-1) outscored Clarkson 10-5 in the second half to open up a one-goal halftime lead in a nonconference game in Potsdam.

Perry Markell led Elmira with six goals, and Sarah Young added four. Mina Schnell supplied three goals, Mary-Kate Geratowski had two and Georgia Markell added one goal and three assists for Elmira.

Clarkson (1-2) was led by three goals from Alyssa Breed and Alicia Chase. Kimberly Loucks scored twice, and Emily Bojarski and Rachel Kopels each scored once.
